Experiencing a sunset on Haleakala is equally awe-inspiring to sunrise without the early wake-up call and smaller crowds. Before sunset, wander the slopes of Haleakala to gaze at the rare Silversword plant and with luck catch sight of endemic Nene geese flying overhead.
As dusk closes in, the clouds miraculously part, revealing the fading rays of the sun accompanied by a light show of brilliant splashes in a myriad of colors. Take note of the drastically changing landscape from arid desert to fertile farmland on the descent.
